The center is entirely operated by volunteers from the Cramond Heritage Trust, an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Cramond.

Originally built as a malt house, the building played a central role in the local economy, being used for brewing beer and other agricultural purposes. Today, it serves as an interpretation center, bringing the history of Cramond closer to visitors.

Inside the building, there are various exhibitions focusing on the archaeology, history, and genealogy of the region.
